Vintage aluminum coffee table designed by Paul Mayén for Habitat. Table base is comprised of four aluminum plates that lock into each other in a "knock down" fashion adorned with a square 3/4" thick glass top. Paul Mayén was known for his eco-minded designs as the lead designer for Habitat as well as his work on Frank Lloyd Wright's 'Falling Water' house.

Mayén was one of the original advocates against the production of plastic products in the 70s and claimed that the economic success of plastic furniture relied on the producers creating a mentality among consumers that the items were durable enough to last but cheap enough to replace. This mission statement, along with his use of robust materials directly resulted in designs that withstood the test of time and continue to be enjoyed and collected to this day.

Many customers choose to source their glass locally because the cost to ship glass is often equal to the cost of a brand new piece of glass, not to mention the fragile nature of transporting glass.
